- Our existing political system isn't bad, it just needs some changes because too much effort is put into power struggles which lead to bad behavior and untrustworthiness and unreliability of our elected officials.
- too many times there are people or institutions that make policies that we are required to obey, and we have very little to say about the decisions. These are often from bureaucrats and agencies that we do not vote for - tax rules, transportation, education, ... many agencies that create rules we have to abide by or face penalties or legal issues - that's not right
- it is at the point where elected officials fed, state, just create new laws and policies with little or no input from the population. they forgot they answer to us. need to create a method to assure those folks can be reigned-in quickly without having to wait for an election cycle, and create a dynamic change to how the officials are selected and how they execute their duties.
- Elected Officials
We vote for the president and vice president, all members of congress, senate, judges, and heads of gov agencies like; education, healthcare, police, environment, food safety, taxation, basically any agency that operates using policies which affect the people.
The duties and responsibilities of these elected officials will differ from the system that exists now.
All persons who are candidates for elected positions must be a citizen as well as the test-of-basic-knowledge for the position they want. They must have an appropriate level of experience for the postion, and must not have been convicted of certain crimes (need a list of these). We do not want someone elected based solely on chrisma or popularity.
The positions of president, vice pres, supreme court, and heads of certain agencies must all be natural born citizens.
Campaigns are publically funded with equal amounts for all candidates.
They are not allowed campaign contributions or to fund themselves.
Their job:
create and administer budgets, policies, laws, projects and programs,
and the general business of their department or agency.
research and gather information regarding new laws, policies,
projects and present the issue and pro/con opinions so people can
vote on it.
House of representatives also oversees and directs the other agencies
Elected officials are answerable to the citizens.
Their work can be suspended for review if enough citizens feel the
elected official is not performing as expected. This process can be
as quick as 24 hours. The suspension means the official cannot
perform their tasks nor make decisions until the issue is reviewed
at which point the citizens can either reinstate or terminate the
official and then begin process of electing another.
Likewise, if the house of reps feels the citizens are overreacting to
a current issue and want certain actions taken, the house can
suspend the current vote and within 30 days present the citizens
with more insight and allow a fresh vote.
Suspension of an elected official can happen when at least 75% agree
using a quick electronic system. If the official does not comply then
the police are required to remove that person and if necessary then
to confine that person.
- Voting and passing laws
WHO CAN VOTE - Voting is only available to voting citizens.
A voting citizen is a legal citizen who has passed the age of maturity and
has passed the basic citizenship test.
The basic citizenship test is not difficult. The purpose is to be sure a
person understands their role as a voter, how our system works,
and confirmation of their loyalty to our country and our way of life.
The usual age of maturity is 18 plus completion of the general education
program. However, a person can challenge the test at age 16 if they
have also completed the general education program.
A citizen is a person born here, or born elsewhere of citizens from here,
or was a legal immigrant who has completed the steps and became
a citizen through the official process.
The Vote
citizens vote for 3 choices, their first favorite and so on
the winner must get at least 65% of the popular vote, if not then
the candidates with the least votes are eliminated and the
vote is done again.
the candidates are chosen based on trust, intelligence, ability to
execute the functions of their job and in certain positions on
their ability to lead and direct. Not on charisma or
general popularity.

* must maintain a weighted vote system like we have now so 1 or 2 regions do not control the entire country. house of reps per population and senate gets 2 votes per state..
* we need to remember that there isnt a perfect political system because there are too many opinions about how it would work. we need to create one in the middle ground that most people can agree to.
* we need to remember that there isnt a perfect political system because there are too many opinions about how it would work. we need to create one in the middle ground that most people can agree to. - there will always be compromise, but hopefully we can work through most of the contention.
* probably a good idea to not allow the election of people who support or promote the degradation or removal of our freedom concepts in oder to replace our system with one that does not allow the freedoms expressed in our constitution and bill of rights
